Mites(various) and essential oils

Bare,
I used to specifically buy Southern Ag Horticultural oil and then I tried canola oil and couldn't tell any difference.

I doubt that other than maybe viscosity there's much difference.

But in my experience, regular spraying is much more important than the oil that you are spraying. Bugs can become resistant to systemics, but they can't become resistant to being suffocated by the oil.

Just my 2 cents.
I hear you on the oil type. I use whatever olive oil is on sale with some free & clear style dish soap. The regular spraying has also worked very well too. A bit of citric acid in the mix seems to kick it up a notch.
Just watch ph if adding the citric acid

I have citric acid and I always forget to use it. But you are correct, a little goes a long way........you can really screw up if you're not careful.

Has anyone else goofed with oil and sulfur? Accidentally Wiped out a mom tent by using sulfuric acid to ph the olive oil spray mix, everything was burnt and shriveled / dead. So as said by far smarter folks then me please don’t mix any oils and sulfur.

i prefer mycoinsecticides b/c no immunity can be built up by the bugs.

Although over 750 entomopathogenic fungal species were reported to infect insects, and the first registered mycoinsecticide was Hirsutella thompsonii which has been known to cause dramatic epizootics in spidermtes. The mycoinsecticides Verticillium lecanii and Paecilomyces fumosoroseus are recently registered for control of whitefly, thrips, aphids, and spider mites. Insect fungi that have much broader host range are Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae which are effective against homopteran and lepidopteran greenhouse insects as well as coleopteran and lepidopteran field insects (Flexner & Belnavis, 1998). These work on aphids as well as other bugs.
