No I'm not sure it's doing any harm to the plants. I'm in Arizona, but the first time I noticed them was after getting clones from southern California. It was mostly just bugging me cause I knew I'd have them on my hands if I pick up the pots, never seen that one before. Are you sure they are eating your plants?
I’m 90% sure it’s some sort of mite because it’s shape and it has 8 legs.
What region do u live in?
The tail is throwing me off. Maybe a grain mite? Do you use any grains in your soil?
It could be a predator bug but I’m having a hard time identifying it. Would you say it moves fast? Fast bugs eat other bugs generally. No I'm not sure it's doing any harm to the plants. I'll be running a flower cycle with them soon if I can't get rid of them and then I'll know for sure if there's any harm. No grains, it's just straight fox farm ocean forest soil.
Spring tails bounce around though. And they live on the tops of the soil no?
I’m not convinced any of us have correctly identified this bug yet.I stand corrected !
The only thing I had early last year in Arizona was spider mites on my outside plants. I want to say in April they went haywire. Not sure what that is, but that is more because I'm a newer grower and haven't had anything but the spider mites before...No I'm not sure it's doing any harm to the plants. Yeah that's what I suspected. I need to do a flower cycle to see if they even matter. Also I picked up some promix recently and was thinking of switching to that also to see if they're still there after that. I planned to take new cuts and dunk them in Athena for a week before putting into the plugs and then into the new soil in a clean tent.Could come from the ocean forrest too.
If they don't seem to be doing damage...
I'd guess they're not very fast but I don't have any other bugs to compare them to. There's a video attached on the second post that shows the speed. It could be a predator bug but I’m having a hard time identifying it. Would you say it moves fast? Fast bugs eat other bugs generally.
8 legs
Soft body
Tail
Clear
Maybe 0.5-1mm?
Is it fast?
Seems to live on the outside of the cups more than the plants. That’s another factor that leads me to think it doesn’t eat the plants.
Do u have any soil pests like fungus gnats, thrips or root aphids?
